in the Arts
Deonté Griffin-Quick is an emerging, creative arts leader with extensive experience in state-wide program management, non-profit theatre administration, digital communications, and theatre producing. He is committed to the advancement of professional American theatre while advocating for diversity and equity in the arts.
Currently, Deonté serves as the Manager of Programs and Services at New Jersey Theatre Alliance. In this role, he oversees the core programs of the Alliance such as annual combined auditions, the Cultural Access Network, New Jersey Stage Exchange, and produces the Stages Festival which is the state’s largest theatre festival. In an effort to connect, empower, and cultivate other arts and cultural leaders of color, in 2019 Deonté developed and spearheaded the New Jersey Arts Administrators of Color Network.
From 2018-2019, Deonté served as the State Coordinator of New Jersey Poetry Out Loud with New Jersey State Council on the Arts. During his tenure, he contributed to recruiting over new 2,000 students to the program, making it the second largest POL program in the country. Though he is an active arts leader in the Garden State, Deonté has also worked with other nationally recognized organizations such as Alternate ROOTS in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2018, Deonté served as a grant review panelist for ROOTS to review applications for Partners in Action, a program that fosters and funds social justice partnerships with progressive activist artists from all artistic disciplines in grassroots communities across the U.S. Southern Region. He has also worked with the organization to facilitate workshops focused on equity, diversity, and anti-oppression.
Deonté plans to attend Graduate School in the near future to receive his Master's Degree in Arts Management.
Deonté served as Premiere Stages’ Producing/Artistic Intern for our 2017 season and conducted himself in a thoroughly professional manner. Deonté quickly established himself as an extremely valuable and reliable part of the office staff. His professional demeanor and attention to detail made Deonté one of my most trusted seasonal employees.
